Day #10 in the Pink

Saturday-It’s game day “baby”! In the south it is a big day for the SEC.  The University of Georgia and The University of Tennessee are playing up in Knoxville.  We have 2 flags flying today as we have children hailing from both schools.  I wish they both could win but alas, it cannot be so.  We shall see.

DSCN1954So today, it is a casual pink day for me.  This little tank is from Target.  I love Target’s tanks, you can get them in every color and they are great under pinnings for layering at a modest price.  Layered under a great white shirt or with a denim jacket and you are good to go!

I did get in some PINK (well they are magenta) suede pumps in this week, but I’m going to tell you they are going back!  DSCN1953The heel on them is a bit more than I can take at 4.5 inches.  I did try them on and even with the platform, I fear the “day after” would find me in my yoga toes!

SO, I’m still on the hunt for a pair of PINK Suede shoes!  Help……!!!

P.S., don’t forget why I am doing this.  It is fun but really the reason for this crazy idea is to call attention to Breast Cancer Awareness Month!  Acknowledge, honor, and support this month by becoming more educated about your own health!    Read the Why?

Did you know that the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month Organization is 25 years old??

Day #9 in the Pink

DSCN1942My creative juices are running purple these days NOT PINK!  If you have been keeping up with me on FaceBook you know that I have been shopping for the trends this season and Pink is definitely not the “IT” color.  Purple is everywhere.

This pink is a bit “out there” for me, but when I put it on, it kind of feels fun!  I’m going to wear this with my new  Frye Boots-what do you think?  Shall I post a photo later and see???

What do you do if  purple is not your color and you want to stay on trend, what can you do?  Well, you can get a scarf, belt or a necklace.  Hey, even a pair of cool purple suede pumps would ROCK.

Color has the greatest impact when it is right next to your skin/face.  So, make sure that the color you are wearing reflects positively (makes you feel great) when you wear it.  If you have to ask yourself “does it”, then it probably doesn’t.

So today, I am getting all the donations that were given at Trends with Friends event this week together and sending them off to Dress for Success.  I can’t tell you what fabulous accessories were donated. Maybe next season we’ll do an Accessory Swap as well as a donation?  You know if you bought something and don’t really like it, why not exchange it for something that works for you??  What do you think?

Day #8 in the Pink

DSCN19431 week down, 3 more to go.  You know October is a L-O-N-G month! I want you to know that I will be “recycling” some of my pieces to see how I can wear them in different ways.

Now that “Trends with Friends” is over, I’m gearing up for the last Style Camp of the season!   We already have several people signed up and there is a cap at 10.  If you have considered coming to Style Camp and haven’t yet, this will be your last opportunity before 2010 to come.

I actually had this boulse in my closet.  It is not the PINK  I have been wearing but rather a “salmon pink”.  It is a warmer pink and feels more like me.  It goes well both in the spring and summer and is a great transitional piece for the fall to wear with browns.

Today I will be doing some networking at ABWA (come join us) and also working with a client to mix in some casual clothes to her business wardrobe.  It’ll be fun and I can use the “Trends with Friends”  shopping experience to show her how to extend her business to casual wardrobe!

I know you are wondering how much this is going to cost.  I’ll figure it out at the end and let you know!  I like a bargain (as long it looks good, feels good, and fits) just like everyone else!  Try to think “versatility” when you are purchasing a piece and you’ll find that it stays in your closet longer!

Day #7 in the Pink

DSCN1940The morning after!  It was a fabulous event.  Can I tell you that I DIDN’T wear what I showed you yesterday!  Oh, well, it’s a woman’s perrogative to change her mind, right!  This is what I wore yesterday.  Thanks to everyone who came. We had a great crowd and friends brought their girlfriends.  It was a wonderful opportunity to share, donated some accessories and see what is “on trend” for the fall.

As a matter of fact, we not only had still photography by students at the Art Institute, we had VIDEO.  So, not to bore you with my photographic skills, we’ll be sending you a snapshot and video of the event.

A final thanks to Kyle Young of Multi-TaskingWoman.com and her sponsorship in this event.  Multi-Tasking Women DO make it happen.  Be sure to follow her as she launches the 12-Ways of Christmas starting November 1st!

Oops!  After all that excitement, I almost forgot to share what I’m wearing today!  Something soft and “PINK” of course.  Even though I like the fuchsia colored sweater I wore yesterday, I’m ready for something a bit more subdued today.  Something calming!  DSCN1944

Day #6 in the Pink

DSCN1883Well, today I’m going to have to dress twice!  That’s going to put a crimp in my “style” but let’s see how creative I can be.

Once will be for running around getting ready for “Trends with Friends” Event at the Art Institute and then I will need to get ready for the event and be “ON TREND”.

If you didn’t register, you’re going to miss a fun event.  Next season, don’t miss it.  It is a fun “ladies night out” event that is going to help you get on trend for the season.

Maybe we’ll see how many people dress in PINK for the event!

Can I just tell you that “pink” is NOT in season right now!!!  Berry, plum fuschia are all versions of pink and I’m going to have to figure this out. (well, maybe plum is stretching it a bit, but)

This is what I’m thinking of wearing tonight, but  I’m dying to wear my “pink” tights, maybe that’s what I’ll do….Stay tuned to find out tomorrow.  I may just be feeling a bit like a rebel!

My “trendy” friend,. Susan Rae sent me this link to a cool tote

Day #5 in the Pink

Monday.  Getting ready for “TRENDS with FRIENDS” day!  Last minute details. …DSCN1884If you haven’t registered you still can.    I think I’m going to wear something simple today.

When you think about what goes with PINK, everything goes with PINK.  Black goes with pink, it softens it.  Brown is yummy with pink, navy goes with pink, and gray is classic with pink.

I am LOVING this tote made especially for AVON. My friend and fellow FB’er sent it to me.  Thanks Susan!  You are keeping me in the pink!

We had a cold front move in last night so I think I might have to add a sweater into the mix here.  Perhaps a long sleeve “boyfriend” gray sweater or navy blue?  It is the season for layering!  This is a “tissue” weight cap sleeve t-shirt that needs some layering to keep me insulated today.

Day #4 in the Pink

Day 4 in the Pink Dress Up Did you know that all color has meaning both positive and negative?  The locker room of the opposing team at the University of Iowa was once painted PINK.

Pink can give a feeling of fragility.  Although the color is derived from the primary color red, it does not evoke the same emotion.  Pink (light pink) can mean romantic but it can also give the feeling of fragilility, a delicate tenderness.  RED evokes enormous amounts of energy, signifies DANGER and is recognized as “power”.  Consider what color a “power tie” is!

Today I am feeling “energetic”.   It’s Sunday and the First Sunday of the Month, so I’m dressing UP today…. This is kind of fuzzy, but the skirt is a houndstooth pattern and the jacket is a vibrant pink (obviously) heavy silk and linen-almost too “springy” to wear now, but it’s a great transition piece.

Don’t forget to join us Tuesday night at “Trends with Friends” at the Atlanta Art Institute.

Still looking for some PINK suede Pumps.  Found these last night.  Do you think these are “pink” enough???    These are from Marmi and are their VanEli Brand shoes. I kind of like??

Day #3 in the Pink

Today is Saturday.    For alot of people they are starting their 2-day walk called It’s The Journey.    Cool thing about this group is that 100% of money raised in your community stays in your community.  If you are walking I wish you happy feet and good weather!

I don’t have to “think” to hard about what I’m wearing today!  Since I am not working, I’m going casual today.  I found this really cute plaid shirt at American Eagle.

BeforDay3 in the Pinke I get dressed for the day though I’m going for a nice long walk-I dont’ have any PINK exercise wear.  I did find a Nike Hat with a PINK Swoosh that my older son had given me some time ago.  Thanks Patrick!

It is amazing what you find in your “stuff” that can work.

What I did have to do is consider the bottom half.  Since this is a longer shirt, I needed a pair of slacks/jeans that were a bit more tapered to give some interest to the look.  I don’t think I’m going with any leggings or skinny jeans although they would work as well. I can also see some black boots with jeans tucked in.

So I just threw my jeans on and relaxed in this comfy shirt.  To dress it up a bit for weekday wear, I’m going to wear my black slim leg slacks with a pump or heeled loafer.  No need for jewelry.  Are you feeling it?

Day #2 in the Pink

Day2 in the PinkBrendasPowershopToday, I have a closet audit.  So, I don’t really have to “dress up”.  Besides it’s TGIF.  I think I’ll wear something “soft” today.  Yesterday I wore BRIGHT PINK  horizontal stripes!  Today I think I’ll go with soft, vertical stripes with my jeans-well, maybe not my jeans, but some navy slacks.  Don’t want to be too casual.

Honestly, I’m glad that I did “dream” this up any earlier than last weekend.  I’m getting a bit OCD about PINK.  I hope I am this excited about PINK when on November 1st.   I found this great little crochetd sweater at Macy’s too.  They were/are having the biggest sale ever…Who would have known.

One thing is for sure, it is a quick way to build “depth” in your closet.  Oh, I was trying to find some “bargains” for my “Trends with Friends” event next Tuesday (Oct.6th-still time to register) and remembering PINK and I saw this lovely bracelet at Coldwater Creek.   Cool thing is you get 2.  One for you and one to share!    I shared this on with Paulette Bethel yesterday when we went to lunch.

Catch up with me on FaceBook to see how I put it together.  We’ll see what my “Autumn” client has in her closet that is PINK!

Do you Know about the Gal to Gal Foundation?  Check it out it is pretty cool!

31 Days in the Pink – Day #1

CarlsonClanUnionSpringsO.k., here’s a  little of the family tree .  I am one of 6 children, can you tell which one I am?

I love this picture because you can REALLY see everyone’s true personality.

O.k, I’m the one with the bangs, my sister is sitting on my lap.  (check out the white socks-loved those green slacks!) I can’t remember who took the picture or why we were all gathered; perhaps it was Thanksgiving.  Who knows-we were all dressed up and ready to get in the picture-well, most of us were!

Last weekend I was reflecting and remembering that it was almost October.  September marks so many events in of our lives with Labor Day signaling the end of summer. For me it is an wedding anniversary month, a birthday month for my nieces as well as my father-in-law and the month that my mother passed away from breast cancer.  Last year my father was diagnosed with breast cancer as well (he’s doing very well!)

So, as I was riding in the car enjoying the gorgeous days of early fall I was thinking, how can I celebrate all of these things AND remember with joy and happiness all that life gives!  I said, o.k., I am going to start, October 1st and live for 31 straight days in the PINK! That’s right, to honor all of those who are still here with us and remembering those who have gone on PINK is the IT color for the month.

I’m going wear PINK each and every day the month of October.  It could be a brooch, necklace, t-shirt, blouse, socks or just a ribbon…but whatever it is it must be PINK…..

I have a few things PINK in my wardrobe but I need your help.  Send me your suggestions.  I have A LOT going on in the month of October, from the “Trends with Friends” and How to Have S.T.Y.L.E event to the last  Style Camp of 2009 all in the month in October.  I am always  “expected”  to be in style and fashionable wherever I go—so please help!

It should be fun!  None of us are immune to the “C” word.  Some of us are touched in ways that have greater impact but all of us are touched. O.k., I’m feeling the need to go shopping now…..

HeDSCN1885re’s what I’m wearing today…A bit casual…On sale at Macy’s yesterday, couldn’t resist.  Rather beachy but still warm here in Atlanta.  That with a pair of dark denim and a sunny fall day is perfect here in the south.

I’m going to be posting things that you can take advantage of each day to honor and give back to breast cancer research.

The panther’s got nothing on us….here’s a special from Bobbi Brown..Free shipping all month

Join me and let’s all:
